Rider Assessment / Award of the DVSA’s Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS).
Who is this for?
New riders (mod 1 and 2 completed) seeking to gain extra confidence and experience,
bikers retuning to riding after a break,
those looking to Volunteer for NWBB North West Blood Bikes, and
those who have attended BikeSafe with Lancashire Police, and wanting to gain further subsidised training.
What is involved?
3 hour session which includes
pre-ride briefing discussing main aspects of DVSA advanced riding, and identifying any areas that you feel require assistance,
a one + hour ride against the DVSA’s standards and
feedback and training plan to get you to the standard if required,
What do you receive?
fun riding and expert tuition - think of it as riding with a mate, rather than under exam conditions,
DVSA Certificate upon Completion - can lead to discounted insurance,
letter for those who have attended BikeSafe with Lancashire Police, for your refund,
confidence in your bike and your riding abilities.
A 4 hour course building on your confidence in the bike, the roads and your own abilities.
Who is this for?
New riders (mod 1 and 2 completed) seeking to re/gain confidence and experience,
Bikers retuning to riding after a break,
What is involved?
Understanding where you and your riding is at, then focusing on;
Checking the bike over, moving it around
Slow speed control and acceleration
Banking the bike and corners
Creating space when filtering
Roundabouts and Dual carriageways
Wet weather riding
What do you receive?
1:1 or Small Group riding, lots of fun and expert tuition,
Confidence in your bike and your riding abilities,
Planned progression onto Advanced Riding / ERS if you wish.
A 16 hour coached course based around IPSGA the Method of Motorcycle Control as published in “Roadcraft - The Police Motorcycle Rider’s Handbook”.
Who is this for?
new riders (mod 1 and 2 completed) seeking to raise their level of riding confidence and experience,
riders wishing to become NWBB Blood Bike Volunteers,
riders wishing to undertake training prior to an Advanced Test,
riders wanting to use their Lancashire Police BikeSafe subsidised training.
What is involved?
2 full days / 4 x half days breaking habits, and learning about you, your bike and how you can react more smoothly with the road and conditions;
advanced riding techniques, theory and Roadcraft as a resource
IPSGA
observation and forward planning
slow speed control and acceleration
the Highway Code
banking the bike and corners
creating space when filtering
roundabouts and dual carriageways
wet weather riding
hazards and how to be more aware of them
riding lots of different roads
What do you receive?

confidence in your bike and your riding abilities,
planned progression onto Advanced Test, if you wish.
